3D Scanning
Criteria Systems can also perform 3D laser scans for artistic and benchmarking purposes. Our 3D scan technology can capture details as small as 0.1 mm (0.004”).
Laser scanning is the process of measuring any given object by means of a laser beam and digitizing the information. With the information you can copy or modify the object in different ways with a CAD/CAM. If the scanner is connected to a CNC-machine, it is possible to cut off a considerable amount of hard manual work, as for example in the stone industry.
Our scanning system works by reading a reflected laser beam off of the original object. The scan system then builds a 3D model of the object. This model can be modified in a CAD-system or used for copying the exact shape, or rapid prototyped out as a one to one or scaled version of the original.
Often, scan data is used in combination with other CAD data for modeling complex structures such as themed environments.
